I have always been a bit bow-legged, but about 15 years ago, my left knee started to bow much more than my right knee to the point that I cannot stand evenly on both of my legs as my left foot does not touch the ground when my right leg is straight. My doctor told me that eventually I would need knee replacement surgery but that he wanted to put it off for as long as possible. A few months ago my knee started hurting and I began wearing a brace.
When I came to the Studio, Tanya helped me understand how my posture was affecting my hip and lower leg function and why this was causing my knee to bow out. Within the first 10 days to 2 weeks of doing my exercises my knee no longer hurt and I didn’t need to use the brace. I do my exercises religiously and I am experiencing great results. I can really see my body coming more into balance and I feel stronger and more stable. And the great thing is, that it is not just my knee that has improved, but my low-back pain is gone and I have greater overall mobility.
This has been the best thing I have done for myself. It’s amazing how resilient the body is and how such easy exercises can bring such improvement.
I have a very physically demanding job and found that my body always hurt at the end of the day and I would wake up so stiff in the mornings. I came to Inner Strength Alignment Studio because I knew that if I didn’t start taking care of my body I wouldn’t have many years left of being able to do my job. Even though I see myself in the mirror every morning, I never realized how my right shoulder was so much higher than my left and how my head stuck forward until I looked at the posture photos that we took during my first session.
Because my job is so physical, I always thought that I was in good shape, but as I went through some of the functional tests I realized how tight and dysfunctional my body actually was. I love doing my exercises because my body feels so much looser, lighter, and more relaxed. It didn’t take long before I began to notice that my body didn’t hurt at the end of the day like it used to and that I have more energy. Now when I look in the mirror, I understand my body better and how to better take care of it.
I have had scoliosis all of my life and never felt there was anything that I could do about it. I initially came to Inner Strength Alignment Studio for shoulder pain that I was having. When Tanya gave me my exercises, she didn’t focus on the shoulder pain and didn’t focus on my scoliosis, but explained how the body has to be looked at as a whole.
I was surprised to find how much more balanced and straight I feel after doing my exercises. A big aha! moment for me was noticing that if I do my exercises before going to the gym for my cardio workout I am much more stable on the treadmill, but if I haven’t, I am “wobbly” and need to hold onto the railings.
I am so excited as I realize that my body is capable of more than I ever thought!
